Around 1260, Bruno of Schauenburg (Bishop of Olomouc) founded the Gothic town of Kromeriz and the Church of Saint Maurice with a chapter house. In the former market place, he rebuilt the Parish Church of Virgin Mary. In the place of a former Romanesque court, he built an Early-Gothic castle as a representative seat and the centre of feudal organization of the Olomouc bishopric...



The Gardens and the Castle of Kromeriz were enlisted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998...
