Konopiste Castle
The castle of Konopiste was founded as a gothic fortress in the end of the 13th century probably by Tobias of Benesov.
The first touch to a medieval structure of the castle was made in the 15th century by Jiri of Sternberk and then in the 17th century by Hodejovsky family.
To a baroque residence it was rebuilded in 18th century by Vrtbas. The archduke Franz Ferdinand d'Este, who bought Konopiste castle from Lobkowitzs in 1887, rebuild the castle to magnificent seat of successor.
